Uterine fibroids are common noncancerous tumors of the uterus. They grow from the muscular wall of the uterus and are made up of muscle and fibrous tissue. The term "cyst" generally refers to a growth within the ovary that is filled with fluid. The fluid could be very thin and watery or thick and viscous. Fibroids are growths that occur above the uterine wall. Whereas cysts are growths below the uterine wall, they consist of puss and they are inflammed.

The following are common symptoms of fibroids and cysts:

  • Bleeding
  • Pelvic pain
  • Reproductive problems, including infertility and multiple miscarriages.
  • Pressure and pain in the lower abdomen
